CHILDREN

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Matthew 19:14

Your children and their spiritual development are very important to us at FSBC Lawrence. Kids Connection is a place where kids from birth - 6th grade make faith connections in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment. All children are welcome and helped to grow like Jesus did:
  • In WISDOM by learning the truth of God’s Word.
  • In FAVOR WITH GOD by giving them an understanding of who God is and a passion to seek His will.
  • In FAVOR WITH MAN by building relationships with others in our faith community and being Christ-like in their interactions and sharing God’s love with all people.
We connect all this to the Gospel message so each child will know their need to have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Our Commitment

The Bible tells us that parents are the primary disciple makers of their children. At FSBC Lawrence, we hope to connect with parents to help build on the foundation being laid at home. Our Sunday morning and Wednesday night programs will support you and provide experiences to help your kids develop a life-long faith. Through the FAITH@HOME program you have access to an age-appropriate pathway of milestones to guide and encourage you as your children grow in their faith.

Kids Connection: Sunday Mornings

9:00am Bible Study (All ages)
10:15am During Worship (Extended Session for Birth - PreK)

Each Sunday at 9:00am, we offer quality Bible Studies for all ages - including our children. During our worship service at 10:15am, we provide care for children from birth - PreK. Each week, our trained volunteers play, sing, rock, and read with kids while parents attend one of our services. Children may also use our playground, weather permitting. Children in kindergarten and older attend the services with their families.

Nursery (Birth-2)

9:00am Bible Study
10:15am During Worship

In our nursery, your child’s first experience at church will be safe and nurturing. Our caregivers provide gentle interaction through play, reading books and music in a calm environment. Your little ones will begin to connect being at church with being in a safe, happy and loving place.

2s - PreK

9:00am Bible Study
10:15am During Worship

Your preschoolers will begin to discover who God is and how much He loves them. They will develop friendships during guided playtime. Each week they will be engaged in an age-appropriate Bible story with connections to a simple truth. Take home cards are provided so you can continue helping your child learn.

Kindergarten & 1st

9:00am Bible Study

Kindergarteners learn that the Bible is a special book from God that He gave us to understand how much He loves us and how He wants us to treat the people around us. They also learn the importance of connecting with God through prayer – thanking, asking for help, saying sorry. Prayer is modeled and kids are encouraged to pray with their class. Each week there is a Bible story using simplified language, a simple Bible verse to learn and a hands-on activity to provide visual and kinesthetic connections to the lesson. Each first grader is presented with an age-appropriate Bible so they can start hiding God’s Word in their hearts.

2nd & 3rd Grades

9:00am Bible Study

These kids use their Bibles each week to learn Bible skills and some background of each book that their lessons focus on. The curriculum has a good balance of stories from the Old and New Testaments. Ongoing themes are: knowing the one true God and that He is always there for them in all situations, telling others about God and the salvation message of saying “Yes!” to Jesus. Kids will be encouraged to have a daily quiet time to help them connect God’s Word with their daily lives.

4th - 6th Grades

9:00am Bible Study

Our middle grade kids continue to develop friendships with each other and Jesus. A fellowship time at the beginning of class allows kids to share life and connect with each other. Kids are encouraged to bring their Bibles each week and to memorize scripture so they can always find God’s truth and be ready to share God’s word and promises. Lots of object lessons are used to help connect Bible messages to life and encourage discussion. Kids are reminded every week that they are created with a purpose and that God will always be with them as they put their faith and trust in Him.

Kids Connection: Wednesday Evenings

(During the School Year)

Royal Ambassadors

1st - 6th Grade Boys
6:00 - 7:00pm

Royal Ambassadors is a mission education program for boys in 1st through 6th grades. At the meetings we talk about missionaries and the work they do, learn Bible verses, do activities, and play games that boys enjoy.  We also participate in mission projects throughout the year, go in campouts, hikes, and do other fun activities. RAs are divided into the Lads (1st-3rd Grades) and Crusader (4th-6th Grades) groups.

Girls in Action

1st - 6th Grade Girls
6:00 - 7:00pm

In GAs, elementary-aged girls learn about missionaries and the work they do, the people with whom they work, and the places where they live around the world. We have games, puzzles, stories, crafts, and videos about the people and places we are studying. Once a month, the girls work on GA Journey where they learn about being a GA, doing missions, giving, helping missionaries, learning the Bible, praying, serving their church, and telling others about Jesus.

Our Priority

While your children are in our care, safety is a priority. All of our staff and volunteers have passed background checks and completed a child protection training. Our check-in system provides allergy alerts and other information about each child to our teachers. It also helps insure that only an approved guardian may pick up a child. Security measures are in place throughout our building.

Our Volunteers

We have a consistent and experienced group of volunteers who work with all children on Sunday Mornings, Wednesday evenings, and at special events. Your children will have the same Bible teachers each week. They are committed to serving children and most have been sharing God’s love and encouraging kids to walk with Jesus for many years. Kids feel comfortable and make connections that will help them grow in their faith throughout their lives.

Our Curriculum

We use a school year calendar and promotion schedule, with kids moving to new classes on the first Sunday of September. Our Sunday curriculum for Preschool is Simply Loved published by Group Publishing. For 1st - 6th Grades is using WonderInk from David C. Cook Publishing. Both give kids a good understanding of both Old and New Testament content, encourages Bible skills and Biblical knowledge. On Wednesday evenings, we use missions-based curriculum from the Southern Baptist Mission Board and Lifeway.
