senior adult ROADTRIP TO ABILENE

If you are 70+, please join us on our first Senior Adult Ministry all-day road trip to Abilene on June 1. We will meet at FSBC at 8:15am and ride together to Abilene. While there, we will stop in at the Russell Stover candy store and tour both the Eisenhower Museum and Boyhood Home. Please bring a sack lunch to enjoy in between our museum visits. We will have a delicious early dinner at the Brookville Hotel/Legacy Kansas before returning to the church in Lawrence by 8:30pm.

COST: $50. This includes transportation costs, a stop at the Russell Stover store, Eisenhower museum and boyhood home entrance fees, and a dinner at the Brookville Hotel.

PLEASE NOTE: There is a gluten free chicken option. Also, wheelchairs are available at the Eisenhower Museum if requested in advance. The boyhood home is not handicap accessible but you can enjoy the grounds during the tour.

BROOKVILLE MENU: At registration, you will be asked what you would like your main dish item to be. Side items will be served family-style with relishes, cole slaw, cottage cheese, homemade mashed potatoes, cream-style corn, biscuits, and homemade ice cream. The four main dish options include:
  • Brookville Classic Skillet Fried Chicken: The 1/2 chicken piece is cooked in regular seasoned flour. 
  • Gluten-free Baked Chicken
  • 14oz Munson's Ground Premium Angus Beef: The Munson beef is graded as Prime dry aged beef. It is ground, formed into 2, 7oz patties, and cooked on a skillet seasoned with Kosher salt and fresh cracked black Tellicherry peppercorn. The beef patties are topped with sauteed cremini mushrooms and onions.
  • 14oz Munson's Ground Premium Angus Beef (WITHOUT mushrooms or onions): The Munson beef is graded as Prime dry aged beef. It is ground, formed into 2, 7oz patties, and cooked on a skillet seasoned with Kosher salt and fresh cracked black Tellicherry peppercorn.
